Thirty-SecondMind Mechanix

Who Are You? Who Do You Want to Be?

You don't have a discipline problem. You have an identity problem.

Motivation burns out. Willpower runs dry. But identity shows up every single day without being asked. This book shows you how your identity got built, how to design the version you want, and how to install it so it holds when it counts.

The lie about discipline

You were never broken. You were running old code.

You start the workout plan, the budget, the business. Somewhere around week three the engine starts sputtering, and you collect one more piece of evidence that you're "just not that kind of person."

Every behavior is doing a job. The habit you keep fighting is running a program that was installed long before you could question it. This book teaches you to open the hood, read that program, and rewrite it, one part at a time.

Gritting your teeth isn't a strategy. It's a fight against your own wiring, and your wiring has home-field advantage.

The Mechanic

Become your own best mechanic.

Mind Mechanix teaches the tools of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and human performance as mechanics, not theory. Your mind is a system, the way an engine is a system, and a system gets diagnosed from the outside, one part at a time.

The first thing you install is a switch called Safe Mode: a way to step out of the moment and watch yourself from the Mechanic's chair, calm and curious, so you can see what's actually running.

There is no failure if there's feedback.

The F5 framework

Five areas. One identity.

A life isn't one goal. It's a machine with five systems, and if you tune one while another is seizing up, the whole thing shakes. So you build all five at once.

Apex

Run all five, fully executed, and you get your Apex Identity: the absolute best version of yourself, at this time. When you reach it, you're standing higher and you can see further. The apex moves because you moved.

The author

Asa Saint Clair

Ward of the court.Dropout.Mechanic.Consultant.Financial advisor.Real estate investor.Founder.Investment banker.President.His Excellency.Inmate #78853112.

Asa grew up in the projects, lost his mother to an overdose at seven, and was a ward of the court by twelve. Starting with less than zero, he skipped two grades, was offered a place in college at fourteen, dropped out of high school and graduated anyway, and taught himself what nobody was going to teach him, through auto shops, a hunger for books, and management consulting at nineteen, where he first learned Neuro-Linguistic Programming. By twenty he was in the investment business, then real estate; by twenty-five he had founded Saint Clair Capital, working as an investment banker, running a supervisory branch office over other financial professionals, and serving a few thousand clients, at an age when most people are still finding their first job.

He went on to sit in rooms with world leaders as President of an intergovernmental organization, and then to sit in a federal prison camp as a number. That's where he filled the notebooks that became this book, running every tool on the hardest subject he'd ever worked with: himself.

He has risen, fallen, and gotten back up more than once. He's done it, and so can you. Every identity is installed either by chance or by choice. This book is about choice.
